Arriving in Belize City is fun. The town is rather small and you will feel right at home. The next day you visit the Mennonite community near Orange river and you get a glimpse of Mayan civilisation at Lamanai. Then it is off to San Ignacio where you simply have to do the ATM river excursion. From there you head to the beach at Placencia but from here the jungle is never far away. Cockscomb Jaguar Reserve is next but seeing the jaguar is not as easy as it sounds! You end the trip stirring it up on Caye Caulker where the spirit of Bob Marley is very much alive but do not forget to go snorkelling as the reefs here are magnificent.
Day 1 & 2
Upon arrival in Belize Citywe will be waiting for you. We take you to Orange Walk which is definitely not your regular holiday spot. Tourism still hardly exists here. On day 2 we take you for an amazing tour in which you get to see the life and ways of the Mennonites that live here. They speak an ancient German dialect and live by very different rules then the most of us. You then head for the Mayan complex of Lamanai where the Jaguar temple is a site to behold.
Day 3 - 5
Time to head to San Ignacio, the outdoor capitol of Belize. On the way you might even stop at Xunantunich, an ancient Mayan complex you arrive by taking a mini ferry. From the town there is so much to do. We strongly recommend the ATM cave experience where you swim and climb into an ancient cave complex and discover old Maya artefacts. You could also go cave tubing and head with a tube an torch into a cave system and float around!
Day 6 & 7
The town of Placencia is your next stop. Here you can opt to simply relax at the beach or head for Monkey River where you might be able to spot caimans and monkeys as the name advertises. The excursion to nearby Bird Island is also highly recommended. Chances are you encounter dolphins on the way, enjoy the island as well as some amazing snorkelling.
Day 8 & 9
Cockscomb Jaguar Reserve is an amazing jungle filled with animals. Chances are you will not see a jaguar but let this not discourage you from making some amazing trekkings in this area with the guides from Maya Centre, a small community almost at the entrance of Cockscomb. During your stay a day- and night visit are included and we really hope you will see lots of wildlife!
Day 10-12
We bring you to the water taxi terminal in Belize City from which you buy your ticket directly to head to Caye Caulker. This island is small and you can do everything on foot. Bob Marley still rules here and the Belizean people are so proud of his music. There are a lot of bars and restaurants for choose from and winding down will come easy to you! On day 12 we take you on an amazing sailing tour where we will bring you to some amazing snorkelling spots where you can swim with harmless nurse sharks and sea turtles. The reefs are alive with thousands of colourful fish and this is a trip you will never forget. The captain will take care of a nice rum punch on the way back!
Day 13
You head back to the mainland where we are ready to take you to the airport and you fly back home.
